The LUXMAN XA-1 is a demagnetizer for MC cartridges released by Luxman around 1982. It was sold not as a standalone audio device like an amplifier or player, but as an accessory to improve the sound quality of record playback.
Its main features are as follows:
Removes magnetization from MC cartridges: Due to the structure of MC (moving coil) cartridges, the coil bobbin can gradually become magnetized (acquire magnetism) due to weak music signals or external influences. Because this magnetization has a negative impact on sound quality, the XA-1 is designed to effectively remove this magnetization.
Sound quality improvement effect: By removing magnetization, the cartridge's original performance is brought out, resulting in improved clarity, reduced distortion, and an improved sound field.
Easy operation: Simply insert the cartridge shell into the unit and press the button to complete the demagnetization process, making it extremely simple to use.
Applicable cartridges: Compatible with Ortofon-type MC cartridges (coil wound around an iron core). Cannot be used with MC cartridges or MM cartridges that use printed coils.
Power supply: Operates on one S-006P (9V) dry cell battery.
